Reflection:Good Friday
Read Matthew 27:32-56.
He Was Crucified.
Today is Good Friday and we need to remind ourselves of what Jesus went through in obedience to the Father's will.He bore both physical and mental torture for us.The physical torture culminated in him being nailed to the cross but the mental torture continued. The greatest of these was to experience separation from the Father for the first time(vs. 46).Why? See Isaiah 52:12 and Habakkuk 1:13a.
In human eyes, the events of today would have made it the worst day of history, yet it is rightly called 'Good Friday'.This is because the sacrifice made for us by Jesus on that day turned evil into good for all mankind.God,in his great love, took the most costly initiative to reconcile the world to himself.
As we celebrate another Good Friday, let us express our gratitude to God for the price our Lord paid to save us from death and damnation.
For Further Study:Study the various groups of people around the cross and note the role each played in the physical and mental torture of Jesus.
Prayer:Thank You,Lord Jesus, for making this day 'good' by taking my place on the cross.
