The Day Of Reckoning

As I look around me,I see many strange things happening, all pointing to the end of this present life. The thought of eternity ignites my fear and passion to unrelently forge ahead in this earthly race. I started thinking about life after death and it occured to me that everybody born of a woman, breathing and doing one thing or the other for sustainance will live for eternity. It is the desire of everybody to live long. Anybody can live for seventy years, eighty years, hundred years or even two hundred years but after everything death has a way of intervening. Another suprising and mysterious thing about this is that some die few seconds, hours or days after birth. Some die in the womb, others die as teenagers, some die as adults. People of different age brackets die and are never seen again. Have you seen any dead man living again,if not for some insignificant few allowed by God? At this point, lets forget about death because it will definitely come knocking anyday. God can decide to give

Difference Makers

We are in a society where you may not be able to differentiate between a mad man and a mechanic. Everybody is a saint. I get suprised when I see people trying to deceive others around them. We are in this unfavourable state because we have a very few or no men and women of integrity. To make a difference is to have an effect on something or somebody. I am not just talking about any difference but a positive one. Positive difference entails seeing things change for good in any given environment. Positive change starts from a positive change of heart and habits. Before we talk about difference, some people should be seasoned enough to stand and effect the needed change even in the midst of great opposition. How many people see telling lies, giving and receiving bribe,or any act of corruption as a hinderance to any positive change? Instead, we have a crop of people that have accepted evil as a normal way of life. It is a pity because any place where there is no integrity, corruption dom

My Eye-Opener

In a twinkling of an eye, the Asuu strike came to stay. Before then,we heard rumours of an impending strike coupled with the internal problems of my own university. The news of more than 100% increment in the tuition fees of my school forced some angry students to the streets in protest against the decision of the school authorities. Not short after the incident, the fear of the students made the school authorities to extend the then concluded Easter break. We stayed at home more than necessary though we did not understand it all.Just as we were permitted to resume studies, the Asuu strike struck. It was on June 22 and we went back home for an indefinite strike. As a medical student who had a professional examination to sit for,I was greatly troubled because I needed to study and prepare. The strike started, moved into days, weeks and the first month with no glimpse of hope coming from the federal government. I stayed back in school in a bid to study but did not achieve much because my i

'The Steeple-Chase'

It was more than just an exam. It was actually a race. Steeple-chase is supposed to be a long race in which horses have to jump over fences, water et cet-era or a long race in which people run and jump over gates and water,et cet-era around a track. This is all about the practical exam I took yesterday. It was an anatomy practical exam. Before then,I heard people call it 'steeple-chase' but did not know that it was the actual name of the exam. It was an interesting 'race' indeed, with many 'fences' to cross. There was a track. Everyone maintained a straight line, with each person standing exactly posterior to his colleague. There was a time keeper with his stopwatch and bell for time regulation. Every participant(the students) wore a laboratory coat tagged with his or her matriculation number. I was one of the contestants. The about sixty 'hurdles' were arranged in such a way that you have to 'jump' each one or loose some points. They were actually

'Our Church'

I have been away for a long time from the internet due to my tight schedule. I have been reading for my ongoing examination. Sleepless nights and midnight candles have taken over for some time now. I hadn't time for myself not to talk of other necessary things. I was priviledged to visit someone today but ended up being offended-just because of denominational claims. I cannot because of public opinion decide to swallow an obvious 'rubbish'. People have resorted to deceiving themselves by just hiding under the umbrella of denomination. People are quick to claim that they are members of a particular popular church denomination but are mere 'noisemakers' with little or nothing to show the impact of God's word in their lives. I visited a 'church' in Owerri recently just to worship God and fellowship with others with a friend of mine and someone came up later to say,'You came to our church.' He could be right by making that statement but an x-ray of
