One Thousand And One Opinions

There is the great need to remind the churches and fellow christians ,the need to be more sensitive and careful in the manner we handle the spiritual things and truth given to us through the bible and by the omnific God.The overseer of one of the notable pentecostal churches in our country once preached a message, warning people, especially the leaders of the orthodox churches to avoid making human opinions, the standard for their members to follow.

Of recent,I've noticed an increase in false teachings and practices in even the pentecostal churches(including the very popular ones we know)which is usually as a result of the personal opinion(s) of just one person, mostly the General Overseers and Superintendents.

These priests, overseers, superintendents, pastors, evangelists, apostles and prophets are usually 'over-respected',worshiped or feared by their members,to the extent that their words, even the poisonous, false ones are swallowed hook, line and sinker. They parade about as thin gods, principalities and powers without any check on them.Though they are meant to be respected, the berean christians in Acts of the Apostles, saw the need to screen Paul's highly coveted words with bible as the yardstick. They are seen as the mouth piece of God even when it is very obvious that they are preaching falsehood.Their convoy make it difficult to differentiate between the President and Man of God on the road. Are we competing? With due respect, some of them are only specialized in defiling our innocent young sisters, who refuse to say 'NO.'Dont tell me that you dont know what I'm saying.Dont attack me yet. These made me to wonder whether we still remember our eternal destination.

I dont have the grace to talk about some of their acts but God'll give me grace to address a few.I do know that the church with several denominations have different dogmas, but I also know that the bible is the only true doctrine of which no bible believing church is meant to stray from. This forms the basis of the issues I want to briefly raise. There's room for change as far as I'm concerned.I demand to be corrected and convinced beyond reasonable doubts from the scriptures in any of the issues.

Some denominations have refused to accept the Holy Communion as a normal practice in the church. Why?Their members have absolutely accepted the trend and never questions the reason(s) for such deprivation. You'll agree with me that Christ initiated Holy Communion and encouraged His disciples to follow sooth before His ascension. Why should we refuse to do so and then turn around to accuse those who obeyed.I've also noticed that it is now a means of raising money in some places where they are produced, packaged and sold to those in dire need of healing.

The use of drums has been shunned by some churches during their music sessions without any cogent reason.I think that it's as a result of the opinion of their leaders which is imposed on the laity. Some say that it brings down holiness standard. How?In chapter one of Acts, the disciples of Jesus elected Matthias to replace Judas Iscariot after much prayers. Why should denominations detest election for personal reasons as if it is sinful.

It also applies to speaking in diverse tongues which is the most visible evidence of the fulness of the Holy Spirit in a christian. It is banned in some places and worthy of pity.Anointing oil has been swept under the carpet for no just cause. In James 5:14,bible says that a sick person should be anointed in the name of the Lord.As some said that it has been replaced by the Holy Spirit, others wrongly believe that it is the Holy Ghost(God) in liquid form.

Even though we should be careful in the way we make noise and dance,it doesn't rule out the instruction from God to do them. While some insist on immersion baptism, others say that any method that touches water on the body is good. But the bible's stand is clear. Some members are forced to wear uniforms to church and that being the only way to show that they belong and devoted.

I'm perturbed because of the dangers, the members of these churches may be facing.I noticed that these innocent members tenaciously grab these teachings that are mere opinions and at the same time shunning those who reject their patterns. They tag others 'sinners,' not knowing that they're actually the ones in trouble. That you refused to eat meat does not make eating meat a taboo, though some things should be frowned at as a christian. If it is over done or under-done,it is still sin.

Modesty in everything should be our watch-word.Obedience to God should be our motivation. In Ecclesiastics 7:18b(NLT),bible says that anyone who fears God will avoid both extremes. As christians,we should not condemn outrightly, the normal things we are meant to be part of,just because it is grossly abused. We're only allowed to show others the way and how to do it.We are meant to be examples to others,no matter the cost.It just requires discipline, sacrifice and God's grace.

I am not suggesting opinion polls.A Pastor in USA wanted to build the biggest church there and decided to go by what his members wanted against what the bible says.It worked for him but the church became a mere social gathering.

God's commands to man are to be obeyed and never to be considered. They're not to be exchanged with any man's 'good' opinion,no matter the source. We're neither meant to add to nor remove from God's words to us.(Revelation 22;18-19).

Is that ok?...
