Exposition -- The Intricacies Of Serving God
I recently came across a bible passage that gave an in-depth revelation of what any service to God should be. I thought it wise to share it with any one that is passionate about obeying and serving God. Unargueably, many notions and ideas about our services to God may not have been absolutely raw, but I wish that God will give us the understanding and ability to conform to the grabbed understanding. It could be bitter but a therapeutic truth. Its relevance lies in our ability to accept it intoto.
By virtue of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross of Calvary, He became the Lord and Saviour of anyone that believed and had faith in what He did. This is true to those that have actually and completely yielded to His leadership, those that are born-again, whose sins have been confessed and forgiven. The Lordship of Jesus is not just a propaganda, it is real to those that believe. As Lord,He is to dictate all that is done in one's life. Every action, word, intent becomes the product of His direction and leadership.
When it is clear that He is the Lord- the Master, those that have Him as their Lord become not just His disciples, followers or servants, but ordinary slaves. A slave is a person who is legally owned by another person and is forced to work for them. In this case, God is our owner and we become His legal property purchased to serve and work for Him. Serving Him is His intention for purchasing us. Many people don't know this and that is why they behave as they want.
Let's move to another level. The bible says that it is Christ that is living our lives and not us. We no longer exist. We died with Him when we believed in Him. Does it sound strange? The truth remains that anybody that is born-again was supposed to die and his soul taken to heaven with his body buried afterwards. When you become a christian, you automatically become a candidate for heaven and supposed to depart from this world to be with God. But God had a plan to execute on earth especially in the lives of others. That is why He gave life to our bodies, so that He will live our lives and use it of execute His plans.
Moving a step further, any person who becomes a christian by virtue of being born-again is supposed to be bear and answer the name 'Jesus Christ' because Jesus is actually the one that is supposed to be living and working in them. How I wish you will understand this mystery! We are still bearing our names for the sole sake of identification and nothing more than that. Irrespective of the fact that we retain the physique ,we had before our salvation, He became our Lord, we're no longer the old people. Old things are no more and we've become brand new creatures. There was a genetic 're-programming' that took place in us.The genes of sin in us were replaced with those of 'righteousness.' Don't ask me how because it is a miraculous and mysterious fact.
In Saint Luke's gospel,Jesus painted to His disciples, the picture of the nature of our service and the attitude of a servant in serving God(see story in Luke 17:7-10).In this passage,a servant came back home after doing some work to continue to do more work.He did not just grab food to eat but had to prepare his master's meal, served him the food before thinking of eating his own.Even after all these supposed efforts, his master didn't thank him for all he did.He did not have to rest until he finished what was his duty in the house. That was due to his identity and portfolio as a slave, who needed to please and satisfy his master.
When we serve God in any measure at all,we are merely fulfilling our duties to Him. That understanding is what God wants us to have. When we toil day and night, spend our money and time on God's work,we merely fulfil our statutory obligations to Him. Even when it seems that we are foolhardy,it is still part of the deal. When we are insulted, bullied, molested and neglected because of God's work,it is not out of place.
God does not owe you any apology or 'thank you' for doing your duty and fulfilling your obligation unto Him.Even if you die while serving God,it is in the deal.It does not actually make you better than His other slaves. No matter the height of the hurdle you are to jump,we are merely unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.
It is a great and rare privilege to be the slave of Christ. Being His slave on earth makes us the partaker of His glory that is to come.Though we don't get accolades for our services to God on earth,we are sure to be with Him in glory and eternally. We should serve God with trembling and reverence. Our services should be thorough and concentrated, should be saturated and selfless to the core.
We should desire to please our master no matter the cost.
GOD'S WORK MUST BE DONE.
Serving God may not be by force but is a worth-having experience. When we eventually begin the service, let's do it without grudges and with the understanding that we are just performing our duties. Ofcourse,God remains faithful to help and reward us.
