LDG--A PROGRAMME WITH A LASTING IMPACT

After my shocking encounter with commercial sex workers in Onitsha on christmas day,I returned to Owerri two day later to prepare for a programme holding at Jos.I entered Owerri and stayed with my friend.I made the 'finishing touches' needed in my preparation.

On 28th,very early in the morning,we left for Somachi park(along Egbu Road) where we boarded a bus(Plateau Rider to be precise) for Jos.At about 7.55am,we left the park..

The journey was indeed a long one. We left Owerri and got to Okigwe. From Okigwe,we crossed a part of Abia State to reach Enugu State.Udi,9th mile-Ngwo and Nsukka are some towns we crossed in Enugu state.

From there,we got to Benue State(the food basket of the nation). Our journey through Benue State was more time-consuming compared with the other states because of the distance.Otukpo, the proposed capital of the proposed Apa State is a very large and conspicuous town in the state. While at Aliade,we saw oranges in large quantities in almost every corner. We crossed River Benue at Makurdi, the state capital..

On leaving Benue,we got to Nassarawa State. The roads in Lafia, the state capital were the best roads we met while on the journey. The roads were well swept with street lights well positioned along the roads. There were no pot-holes on the roads.Infact, they can even be compared with those found in the nation's capital,Abuja.

From there,we entered Kaduna State and subsequently Plateau State. In Plateau State,we came cross the prominent Nigerian Institute For Policy And Strategic Studies at Kuru and Nasco Company in Jos.It is likely that we also passed through Kogi State.

We eventually got to the venue for the programme(that is Federal Government College,Jos) at about 6.50pm,meaning that we spent roughly eleven hours on the road, though we stopped briefly at Makurdi.

LDG simply means Last Days Gathering. It is an annual international conference/retreat of CAPRO(Calvary Ministries) which started in the 1980s.CAPRO is a international christian body that is into cross-cultural missions.Capro is constituted by people with the passion of reaching out to people in the interior or secluded parts of the world, where the gospel may not have been preached at all or sparingly preached. This they do by training and sending missionaries to the fields, mobilizing people to pray and financially support the work..

The programme was held from 28th December,2009 through 1st January,2010.The 'heart' of the programme was between 29th and 31st December.

Bro Gbile Akanni,Bro Pade, Bro Amos and others were the resource persons. The programmed was actually 'packed' to bless lives and produce people who will boldly condemn wrong teachings in our churches and at the same time preserving the truth for posterity.

Despite the challenges of the weather in Jos,we were able to dissect the theme,'ERNESTLY CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH.'I was really blessed and challenged.I may have to share the excerpts from the programme with you in my subsequent posts.

~HAPPY NEWYEAR~
